Strong roll out for booster vaccine campaign
The Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) successfully completed the first stage of the Covid-19 booster vaccine campaign for eligible members of the public and health care workers earlier last month.
Members of health care staff received their booster vaccines at the Primary Care Centre.
The public vaccination team had planned to vaccinate between 180 – 216 people on weekdays and 450 at weekends. Gibraltar was the first country in the world to vaccinate its entire adult population.
Insurtech UK signs agreement with Gibraltar to support businesses
The trade association for insurtech businesses in the United Kingdom, Insurtech UK, signed in early October a Statement of Intent with Gibraltar Finance, the government department responsible for promoting the jurisdictions financial services sector.
The statement of Intent commits both parties to working together to raise awareness, promote opportunities and increase the level of support available to UK insurtechs who are interested in becoming authorised insurers or authorised MGAs in Gibraltar.
Insurtech UK Co-Chairs, Luisa Barile and James York commented: “When looking at new markets and a daunting authorisation process, often the most time -consuming part is finding the right people to talk to, getting boots on the ground and having access to the best information to understand the market and the opportunities for your business”.
Albert Isola, MP, HM Government of Gibraltar added: “It is a pleasure for HM Government of Gibraltar to have entered into the joint Statement of Intent with Insurtech UK. Gibraltar has a large insurance industry with particular expertise in the UK motor insurance sector which offers valuable competition and choice to UK consumers”.

WTC (Gibraltar) elected to the board of WTCA (New York)
The Gibraltar World Trade Center (WTC) has been announced as one of the new representatives elected to the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) Board of Directors, following a closely fought election across six continents, amongst the
networks 320 highly connected global members.
The goal of the WTCA is to help local economies thrive by encouraging and facilitating trade and investment across the globe through member

(Gibraltar) will now represent Gibraltar’s interests within the global network alongside 20 other World Trade Centers that are represented on the Board, which covers 91 countries and more than 70 capital cities.
WTC (Gibraltar) was opened in February 2017 and was 98.5% occupied within just one month, with 38% of occupants being new to the jurisdiction.
The UK/Gibraltar future relationship with the EU opens in Brussels
Technical talks began in October between officials from the UK/Gibraltar and officials from the European Union to govern the future relationship of Gibraltar with the EU.
Gibraltar’s Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, who had recently tested positive for Covid-19 and was on his final day of self- isolation, connected virtually into the first meeting from Gibraltar.
Mr Picardo who was asymptomatic,
delivered an opening statement expressing the hope that the process will end positively and stressed the commitment of the Government of Gibraltar to work constructively towards a solution in all areas. He explained the importance of a fluid border to many thousands of citizens, of different nationalities on both sides.
The Attorney General, Michael Llamas QC, was supported by the Director of
Gibraltar House, Brussels, Daniel D’Amato at the first meeting.
